About Me
I repurpose materials considered trash into my art to challenge the narrative pushed by consumerism. When I first started becoming politically conscious, the weight of environmental issues was very heavy on my shoulders. Learning about young activists like Greta Thunberg and artists like Norman Rockwell made me realize the impact I can have. I use cardboard, plastic waste, and thrifted clothes when working in textiles. This makes the act of creating art in itself a physical change- reducing waste. The pieces I make vary in topics, addressing larger concepts and questions regarding a broad range of political issues. Because everything is interconnected and equally worth talking about, I don’t focus on just one topic; however, my main themes address environmental concerns, tyranny of nationstates, and the history of oppression that continues to affect us. I also enjoy making art without meaning, and enjoy the process and aesthetics.
